BMW and Marco Wittmann got DTM Champion 2016, after a super exciting final race weekend on the Hockenheim Ring. To celebrate this victory, BMW M designed a 200 unit limited edition of the M4 called the DTM Champion Edition.
I was sent up to Hockenheim the day after their victory to do a little shooting with the M4 DTM Champions Edition, Marco Wittmann and his BMW M4 DTM Race Car. Sadly they were already tearing down the pits, so I had to switch to Plan B and did the whole shooting in less than a hour on the racetrack. But it worked out quite good.
During to a little shooting for TÜV Süd at the maintenance garage of the Bayrische Zugspitzbahn close to Garmisch Partenkirchen I had the chance to sneak around their facility and doing some side shots.
For me this was a little walk through my past, because around 20years ago I spent most of my wintertime in this trains going up and down to Zugspitze for snowboarding.
Over the last years I did a lot of work for BMW M mainly in the documentation sector. But from time to time I get the chance to hijack one of their beauties to do a little extra round of shooting.
And these ones are always special.

This year I did a little special send out. After searching for months for a funny and recognizable possibility to present my photos to potential customers I found a „Whooohooo …. itse meee!!“ way to do it.
Everybody likes pizza and everybody knows the boxes when you get one delivered … so I customized a small version of the box by stamping it in two colors (the classy it alien red/white/green) and filing it with a choice of pictures.

Right before New Years Eve I had the chance to shoot at the Mercedes Benz Off Road Experience at Kitzbühel in Austria.
During wintertime you can drive all Mercedes Benz Off Road Models from the GLA to the G-Class in an open surface quarry. An Off Road Fan finds everything there from gravel roads over lakes to steep ramps he needs to have a lot of fun.
And the best about the whole thing is, everyone can experience that together with a professional driving instructor.

this year the bmw canada european delivery tour growled a little bit and there were two tours … that means a bunch of bmw m enthusiast from lovely canada came over to pick up their brand new bmw m2 & m4 its models at munich to take them out for a thrilling first 2000km ride wich brought them in 6 days through 7 countries and the alps.
this year both groups had 15 cars and the route brought them from munich, via salzburg, stelvio pass, st. moritz, bellagio at lake como, milano and rapallo down to monte carlo. it were 6 unbelievable days of fun, good food, beautiful landscapes, sheer driving pleasure and an incredible good group of people.

After long hours of sorting pictures, thinking about looks and materials and way to much coffee … its done at last and my new portfolio is ready to see the world.

Beging of September I got a really special occasion for a shooting. The location was a construction crane on the top of Germanys highest mountain, the Zugspitze. The Bayerische Zugspitzbahn is building a new cable car from Garmisch to the top and this crane helps to build the new gondola station on the top.
I was sent up there to accompany an engineer from the Tüv Süd who made the security inspection at this crane.
Sadly we had just on day to do the shooting and that day the weather was so bad you couldnt even see the top of the crane or something around it.
But nevertheless we managed to capture some nice shots that give you a glimpse on the work of this guy.
In October 2014 I headed out for the Head Catalogue Winter 15/16 shooting in Stubaital Austria. Sadly we had a bad timing with the conditions: the first days there was no snow at all, then it snowed two days with heavy wind so the resort was shut down. But in the end we just worked around the misfits and got a nice set of shots.

Some weeks ago I did a fashion shoot for a small fair trade label from germany called pol* Clothing.
Their small but really fine lineup is produced from fair traded eco materials and handmade with a lot of love.

Some weeks ago I got the chance to shot a very special little company close to my hometown in upper bavaria.
BioTop Oberland is a Community Supported Agriculture farm close to Bad Tölz and a friend of mine is one of heads behind it. It tries to bring back a system of a solidary agricultural structure where the farmers and customers get involved with each other again. They are producing with super high ecological standards and grow different plants at each time of the year. The customers get their vegetables straight at the farm at one day very week and are highly welcome to help out on the farm whenever they want.
I tried to show the whole way of their production from the fields, to processing to the delivery.

End of Jule I attended a really nice event east of berlin. It was the Oakley King of Greens Golf Tournament where action sport athletes with a passion for golf and pro golf players are playing a tournament in mixed flights.
This year it happened on the Faldo course at the Arosa Golf Resort Scharmützelsee east of Berlin. This course is one of the most difficult courses in Germany and will maybe host the Ryder Cup in 2022.
The whole event was just two days of fun for all the athletes, don´t matter who good their skills are.

After spending 4 weeks with bmw in las vegas i really was looking forward to get out into the nature again … so i took the chance of already being in the us and did a two week road trip with my girl to experience some of the unreal western usa landscapes .
And all i can say about it is its just mind blowing how much completely different landscapes are following one to another … its just switching from desert to big woods to mountains to green valleys to mountain lakes to urban areas in some hours and I think you´ll need at least a lifetime to explore them all.
Before it had´t been in the top10 of my bucket list of places to visit, but now I can´t wait to get back to see more of it.
BMW M gave me again the chance to do the documentary shots of their M Power Experience. After AbuDhabi in 2012 and Istanbul in 2014, it happened in Las Vegas this year.
What should I tell you about this glittering SinCity right in the desert of Nevada … everything you ever saw or heard about it is true and thats not even all of it.
The Event itself was a great combination of unbelievable locations, good food and perfect fun with the brand new BMW X5M & X6M between the LasVegas Motorspeedway and some scienc roads to drive.
The pictures are just a small glimpse of what I´ve experienced over there.
Some weeks ago I went to Shanghai China to do some architecture shots of the booths of BMW, Mini and RollsRoyce on the Shanghai Motorshow 2015.
Last august I got the chance to chase winter on the other side of this planet. Together with some of the Head Snowboards Teamriders I took a 15hour flight down south to Argentina. After some funny days in Buenos Aires we took another 15h bus ride to the famous resort of Las Lenas in the Andes. Normaly at this time of the year you´ll find deep winter and huge amounts of snow up there … sadly the winter up there was warmer than the summer back home and we were welcomed with nice +15° Celsius and slushy spring conditions instead of powder.
So the plan changed from getting a lot of riding shots in the unbelievable terrain up there to more lifestyle and product content, and in the end we had a successful shooting, a lot of good Meat & Wine, a huge amount of fund and just good days with good people down there.

Some weeks ago I spent another day at the BMW Driving Academy at Maisach to do some image photography of their rebranded facilities. And what should I say: I was more than stoked to find some of my photos I did over the past few years for them on their rebranded walls.
Some time ago I realised a Outdoor photoshooting for my portfolio. After some minor setbacks during planning the whole thing just turned out really great. It was a long weekend with a lot of driving, hiking and shooting, but the crew was so much fun and the output is just incredible.

During the landscape location scouting for my Outdoor production (Making of) I made some shots with the incredible „The Cave“ tent from the german based company Heimplanet.
It´s just an awesome product, that makes camping way more comfortable, easy and even more stylish. You won´t believe how many people asked what that thing is.

Earlier this year the BMW Driving Experience send me to Namibia to shoot their Offroad Multi Day Tour with the new BMW X5 there. In the Landscape Post I already showed you what a beautiful country Namibia is … now I´ll show some action from the tour itself.
The tour itself is a 6 day road trip through the wilderness of this epic country and you´ll experience everything from stony mountain roads, rides through empty riverbeds and endless grass plains to the big sand dunes at the coast. It´s just 6 days of „sheer driving pleasure“ combined with perfect lodging and food at night.

This year Head Snowboards gave me and a part of the team the chance to go on a snowboarding trip to the southern hemisphere, there should be deep winter when we were sweating here in middle europe. Should be!!!
So the plan was to visit Argentina for 10 days and enjoy deep pow, great mountains and get some shots with the products of 15/16 done … but as always in life things don´t go as expected. So we left a cold and rainy europe to be welcomed with 20° and sunshine in „winterish“ Buenos Aires and sadly we had 15° (PLUS!!), sun and slushy spring conditions in Las Lenas up on more than 2500m.
But we just made the best out of it and in the end we bagged our shots and even found some pow up on around 3800m … and the trip itself was just amazing and a hell lot of fun.

The upcoming season is close to start and the highest peaks of the alps are already getting their first layer of snow. That is the time when my work from the previous season with head snowboards is getting published in their catalog, their brand new website and as ads in a vary of snowboard magazines. The stuff is amazing again and if you need a new setup you should take a look on it for sure!!

the brand new bmw m4 coupe is now available for your entertainment at the bmw driving academy in maisach. to get some marketing photos done i headed out there again and guess what the yellow beauty had a unsuspected rival: the even more brand new and spectacular bmw i8.
so we took the opportunity and got some nice extra shots of this absolut stunning car too … but these are content for a future post.
some time ago i got the chance to travel to namibia for a photo job … which I´ll talk about in a future post here.
It´s such a beautiful country with unbelievable landscape everywhere (not only the famous red dunes in the north). So should you ever get the chance to go there, rent an off road vehicle and go to every corner, each of them will be completely different.
And try at least to have one night somewhere in the middle of nowhere … the night sky will blow your mind!!
In February I went to the BMW Driving Experience on the Sölden Glacier to shoot their two new flagships the X5 and M4 in their winter training academy. Especially to have the brand new BMW M4 on a glacier on more than 3000m was a special thing …. the bright color of this car in the very color reduced backdrop up there was a really fun thing.
And as you maybe could imagine 460hp are a really blast on snow ….

Some time ago I shot some pictures for a little Imagecampaign for a small soft drink company from bavaria.
At this evening we had around 0 degrees air temperature and it took about 2 hours to get all shots done. So the poor girl was walking and standing around in just her small cloth and a shirt over it. But she was laughing and joking all the time as if it would be a warm summer night. Incredible.

Last week I´ve been at the Arlberg with BMW to shoot some Promotion Stuff for the Perfect Rides series there.
The goal was to get some shots of their X1 Freeride shuttles in a typical deep winter Arlberg situation. But due to a bad winter season and spring like conditions with 15° C, melting snow and brown slopes everywhere this job was quite a challenge. But in the end and with a lot of driving around we managed to get the shots.

Last week I spent some days with Pirate Movie Productions and one of my HEAD Snowboard Teamriders in Italy … and there all the snow thats missing in the northern Alps has come down in a small region around Alta Badia.
It was just a great time down there and we´ll be back soon.

Shortly after christmas I got the chance to do a lifestyle portrait shooting with one of austrias finest freeskiing talents. Mario Gattinger is a funny and talented young freerider from whom you´ll hear a lot in the next years.

The brand new and all electrical BMW I3 is a revolutionary car in all matters. Especially with his iconic design and the completed different feeling while driving it.
The BMW Driving Academy in Maisach offers now a special training for this special car … and so I´ve been out there on a cold november day to capture the whole training for them.
Here are some impressions from this day.
At end of october a big part of the HEAD Snowboards International Team gathered at the Stubai Glacier for a two day shooting to get some shots with the brand new 2014/15 stuff. It was interesting to see how Sina Candrian, Frederik Evensen, Alex Tank and Tom Klocker got their hands on the new stuff for the first time and what they were thinking of it.
We had two really funny days up there with some good and some bad weather and it was just nice to have these great people around me again.
